The Diplomatic Academy of Vienna as a Public Institution

The Diplomatic Academy of Vienna was separated from the Austrian Foreign Ministry in 1996 and has been an independent public institution ever since.



The Organs of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna

Director

The director is responsible for the economic, strategic and organizational leadership of the institution. The decisions of the director are subject to examination checked by a board of trustees.

Ambassador Dr. Hans Winkler has been the Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna since April 2009.



Deputy Director

The deputy director supports the director with the organization of the postgraduate programmes and curricula as well as the strategic, economic and organizational leadership. In addition, the deputy director manages the following areas: Executive Training Programmes, scholarships and the Alumni Office.

Envoy Dr. Elisabeth Bertagnoli has been the Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna since January 2010.



Board of Trustees

The board of trustees appoints the director and the deputy director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. Furthermore, it considers checks the decisions of the director.

The study commission advises the director on questions of the regarding the setup of curricula and the selection of the faculty members.
